About this book
Using key events to illustrate major issues, "Internet and the Law: Technology, Society, and Compromises" explores such significant legal battles as "A&M Records v. Napster" and "Apple Computer v. Franklin Computer," allowing readers a look into stories of trade secrets, music theft, and industrial espionage. As information technology grows and the Internet's global reach strengthens, it is becoming more difficult to define rules to regulate it. Governments have tried, for various reasons, to restrict Internet content but have not succeeded, in part because the international nature of the Internet makes enforcement difficult. "Internet and the Law" focuses on laws relating to intellectual property and freedom of expression, and presents information in a clear and concise manner, making it easily accessible to students and others researching the intricacies of Internet law.

Tip for those who complain of short range

0 5/5 EPS (West Columbia, SC) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control (Tools & Home Improvement) I got mine set up fairly quickly. Didn't work the first time, so I reversed all the switches on the opener and did it again, and that did the trick. But I then found the range to be very short - less than 10 feet - no good! But what I also found was that I was expecting to press the button 16 times for a Stanley opener, yet 14 did the trick (i.e. the door was activated on the 14th press.) 14 is for a multicode (I take that to mean generic.) So I programmed it again, but this time did the full 16 presses, and now my range is very good - along the lines of 100 feet. Also, if you're curious (I was) - how does it control 2 doors with only 1 set of DIP switches? It remembers the settings during activation. So you set it to match one door, do the programming step, then set it to match the switches on your second door and do the programming step for it. Great unit and highly recommend! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 22, 2010

    Wow! Am I happy!

My Genie opener was installed in 1990, and I had dropped the remote for what turned out to be the last time. I had searched and found out that model remote was no longer made. I took a chance and ordered the Clicker. When the Clicker arrived, I found the reference to my unit. I knew about the DIP switches inside my existing remote, and the Clicker instructions told me to program the DIP switches inside the Clicker just the same. (This is only true for specific models of openers, remotes and year installed - others use the programming button on the receiver). I followed the clear directions: they seemed a bit odd, but I followed them exactly (17 clicks) and voila! ~ the garage door opened! I programmed the other door as well, and now I have one compact remote to open both doors. I cannot believe it took me so long to find the solution, and it took less than five minutes to program the two doors. Wow! Am I happy! The instructions are clear and detailed, and you just need to... 5/5 KBSt "KBSt" (San Francisco, CA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control (Tools & Home Improvement) My Genie opener was installed in 1990, and I had dropped the remote for what turned out to be the last time. Ordered an Advertised Craftman Opener and Received a Liftmaster product

I clearly ordered a Craftman Opener. The confirmation emails I received indicated I ordered a Craftsman. The receipt inside the package confirmed I ordered the Craftman opener. However, the product inside the package was a LIFTMASTER. The good news is that the Liftmaster works on my garage door (at least for now). I have elected to keep the Liftmaster - Considering how much I paid for the opener and my current need for this product, I don't want to go through the hassle of a return and exchange. Maybe this is the sellers strategy. In my opinion, its not an honest practice to advertise a Craftman and deliver a Liftmaster. The seller should post a disclaimer warning of possible substitution. When I ordered the Craftman, the seller stated that there were only 7 openers left. Like a fool - I took a chance and ordered even though I saw other reviews warning of this issue. It is easy to program and it recognizes the fingerprint almost every time on the first pass. If you have the compatible Sears garage door opener, then the installation is a piece of cake.It works in the same manner as the garage door remote controls, except rather than pushing a button, there is a biometric fingerprint ID system. Once it is first programmed by the primary person/administrator, no one else can adjust the settings or users, hence the system is very secure. An amazing product for the price. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 11, 2011

We bought a house that had a Craftsman garage door opener, but no remotes. At sears the craftsman openers were $40+, which is rediculous. When we got the "universal remotes", we found out the craftsman has a "smart-coder" system, that eliminates manual codes, rendering "universal remotes" useless. This little gem works with our system and was half the price! 0 5/5 Jason - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Sears Craftsman 139.30498 AssureLink Compatible Garage Door Opener Remote There isn't much I would expect from a garage door opener other than to open and close my garage door from a decent distance. This does that and it works with both of my garage door openers. It was easy to set up. I didn't fully read the setup instructions so it took me a few minutes to figure out you had to keep pressing the button until the lights flashed on my opener. I was only pushing it once and it wouldn't sync. I guess it cycles through the preset craftsman frequencies which makes sense.
