Perfect reason why the product is a dealer only item

0 5/5 Norm - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Liftmaster 828LM Garage Door Opener Internet Gateway Short and simple, this product works. Granted, the application for smartphones is a little bit on the clunky side, but it is well worth the investment. The negative reviewers are a perfect example of why this product isn't sold on the Liftmaster website. It only works on certain doors and even then, you need a very basic understanding of connectivity. Many don't have that and blame the product when it is the type of door they are using it on. If you want this product to work on just about any door, you can do what I did. I have a Liftmaster door opener that doesn't use security plus or MyQ. Simple solution. Purchase the LiftMaster 888LM Security+ 2.0 MyQ Wall Control Upgrade. Just search Amazon for 888LM and there you go. Install the new wall control first, then program the 828LM to the wall control. Took me just over 10 minutes to install both and have it working on my smartphone. Works like a charm. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 15, 2013

Updated Feature = No Annual Fee

0 5/5 EzBiker - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Liftmaster 828LM Garage Door Opener Internet Gateway Liftmaster is no longer charging an annual fee to use this device and app. I have this working on my Android, Apple, and Blackberry devices. This eliminates buying extra remote controls for your garage door opener. I'm now looking forward to adding the remote light switch devices to this internet gateway device. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 30, 2012

    Works Great

I had a new garage door installed today and decided to get this device despite the negative reviews. All I can say is, it works extremely well. It didn't take me very long to setup (I have a wiring closet, and just added it to an empty port on a bridge) and basically you just create an account, add a location (like Home), and then Add a Device by pressing the Learn button on the opener. It could not have been easier. I did it from a laptop near the opener because you only have three minutes from the time you press the Add button to the time you can press Learn, and I didn't feel like running down and then back to confirm that the device added. It would be nice if in the future you could add the opener from a mobile device like an iPhone, but the instructions were quite clear (at least on my version) that it had to be done from a computer. Once the opener was paired with the gateway, the lights changed on the gateway to signify a device was added, and the door showed up on my... 5/5 Stephen Pace (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews, October 30, 2012

0 3/5 WoodworkerBED - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Liftmaster 371LM 315MHz Garage Door Remote(See Tech. Details Below) The three Liftmaster 371 LM 315 HZ Garage Door Openers that I purchased worked as advertized. No problems with functionality. My problem is that I ordered three at one time and was charged the full shipping and handling charges for each one individually. They were shipped together in one box as one would expect. So the actual price including the shipping and handling was much higher than what I expected. I feel I was ripped off, although somewhat subtly. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 2, 2012

    Great Product; Relatively Easy Installation

I benefited greatly from comments others made about this product and how to install it, and I thought I'd add mine for any who are looking at getting this. My 11-year-old Liftmaster chain drive garage door opener stopped working and had the same worn out sprocket that so many have described, with the white snow shavings, etc. I too feared I'd have to spend $100s getting it fixed, then I found this great product on Amazon. I installed it last night, the whole process, including finding tools and adjusting the chain and door afterward, took me about 2.5 hours, but the actual removal and installation of the part took only about an hour. Garage door works great now, and is quieter than before. For the installation, I did what the reviewer before me did, which means I didn't remove all of the stuff the instructions said to remove. Here's a fairly detailed step-by-step of what I did -- my inner and outer "trolleys" (the things that slide the door along the rail and that have... 5/5 bantcher - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Works like a charm, but what a lot of work it is.......

First, I wanted to offer compliments to other reviewers that described the symptoms of the gears being bad - the "snow", the stop-and-starts, the stop working altogether but can still hear the motor running - nailed it exactly. Very clear to me after reading those that this was exactly the product I needed. It is exactly what it says it is - an OEM Liftmaster gear replacement assembly. The directions that come with it are excellent - step-by-step, and it explains exactly what you need to do. The directions are the best part of this product - if they were not so well done, it would be impossible. No knock against the product, but installation was considerably more work than I expected. I had visions of undoing a couple of screws, popping out a gear, putting in the new ones, and being done - boy, I couldn't have been more wrong. The process can best be summarized as "take your garage door opener completely apart, removing all pieces, wires, etc. Around 30 to 50 screws,... 5/5 Kentucky Reviewer (Louisville, KY) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Worked! Here are a few tips.

This is one of those time consuming jobs with little annoying issues. Here are my tips so hopefully you can avoid the problems I had, making your job much faster than mine was. The sprocket on the top of my unit broke so I just had to replace the drive gear and shaft. No other parts were worn or damaged so I didn't bother with them. The annoying part is that you unscrew the screws on the shaft plate from the inside of the unit and there isn't alot of room for your hand motion. I used the smallest ratchet in my set. A couple things to be aware of during this step is that you can remove the back panel with the circuit board by unplugging the circuit board. It has a multi-pin plug that is very similar to computer drive plugs. Also, I recommend wearing mechanics gloves b/c the unit is made from stamped metal so there are lots of sharp edges and corners which easily cut up your knucles and scrape fingers. One other problem I had was with my chain. Since the sprocket broke the... 4/5 BTM (Jeffersonville, IN) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Small size, though works well with good range

The remote is 2.5" (L) x 1.5" (W) x 3/8" (T) [edited thanks to comments for correction]. The range is about 40' line of sight. Our predicament was finding one, pocket-size, remote that could operate 2 different garage door openers. Carrying 2 of the standard sized, inbox, remotes was too bulky for our needs. We have two different Liftmaster garage door openers. One was a new Craftsman+ and the other an older (6 years old) Craftsman Formula 1 garage door opener. These openers both have rolling codes, though work on different frequencies (one with a purple learning button and the other with a blue one), so each of their standard remotes, and seemingly a number of after-market, ones won't learn both simultaneously. After unsuccessfully trying a few remotes from local hardware stores, we risked this one. It was pricier than others, though had the appeal that this one actually works, Indeed, it works great.Hope this helps, Mike... 5/5 M. Burrows (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews, November 6, 2012

    Pocket Garage Opener LiftMaster 890MAX

I was looking for the a second garage door opener to use in another car or bicycle.890MAX is really the smallest one I could find for my LiftMaster. It is 63x38x13mm or if you don't knowwhat mm is it's 2.5 by 1.5 inches and half an inch thick. It weights 19 grams (5/8OZ)which light for the size or big for the weight and OK for a key-chain but adds some bulk to it. You might want to consider quick release system to your keychainThe remote is easy to program one hint is if you want to hit the purple programming button and the car is right below it instead of moving your car out and putting a leader or a chair you might be able to open a car door closest to the garage unit and reach the programming button standing in the car doorway. The remote is easy to operate and I like the red LED light. The plastic of the remote feels a bit cheap and buttons are easy to press.Another hint if you... 5/5 Igo - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 0 5/5 T.Cash "T.Cash" (Boca Raton, FL USA) - See all my reviews Assembly for this item consists of attaching the visor clip, if desired (two seconds). To sync it to your existing garage door opener system you push the purple button on the motor unit, push the button on the remote and hear two clicks (four seconds, more if you have to get something to stand on). That's it. The product "learns" the rolling codes automatically. After that, when you push the button on the remote, your garage door goes up or down until the battery runs out, which have lasted over six years for me now. I bought more because we added more cars to our family. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 11, 2008

To verify this remote works with your unit, press the learn button on your overhead unit (remove the plastic light cover on the back side and look for a square button - mine is red). When you press the button the led light will light up. If yours is yellow, then this remote will work for you. I would suggest you immediately unplug and re-plug in your garage door opener to cancel the "learn" mode so that on the off chance that a neighbor is opening their garage door your door opener won't "learn" their code and start opening when they push their remote... but anyway...Setup is as simple as that, press the learn button, then press the remote button. The unit will click and flash to let you know it is learned. Now the remote will work. The remote also comes with battery and clip to mount to your car visor. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 17, 2010

This review is from: Liftmaster 377LM 315MHz Garage Door Keypad We used to have the key switch on the side of our garage. We recently had an alarm system installed and one of the first things the installer did was tell us to remove it. When I asked why he showed me how easy it was to just pry the switch off of the garage and short the two wires together to open the door. I'd never thought about it. He recommended we install the wireless unit here. Amazon had a good price so I ordered it. Had it installed in about two minutes. "Training" it to our garage door opener was so easy I thought I'd missed something until it worked. The security issue is enough to make this worthwhile but boy is it convenient now when we want to open the garage and don't have keys because they're in the house. Well worth the money in my book. One was great. The second faulty

I had two garages that needed to have these replaced. I bought one. I was going to buy two but because they don't give you break on shipping for more than one I figured I'd order them separately just to make sure that was the issue. The first one worked great. It was easy to replace and immediately fixed the problem. I tried it in both my garages and it worked in each so I went ahead and ordered a second. The second one wouldn't work in either garage which was frustrating. I contacted the company who informed me I would need to ship it back at my expense and if they determined it was faulty they would replace it. Really? What kind of customer service is that? I realize there are people out there that are dishonest but over a $3 part? Just the effort to make a special trip to the post office wasn't worth it to me. They had every reason to believe me as I had already purchased one that worked like a charm.
