    Easy Installation

0 5/5 Dana R. (New York) - See all my reviews This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK2U Clicker Keypad (Tools & Home Improvement) The best feature of the Chamberlain keypad is that it requires no additional wiring for installation. Once you program the keypad to your garage door opener, it's ready to attach (2 screws). It took me a couple tries to complete the programming, due to the fact I was not fully depressing the numbers on the keypad when programming the code. I would highly recommend. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 1, 2008

Tip for those who complain of short range

0 5/5 EPS (West Columbia, SC) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control (Tools & Home Improvement) I got mine set up fairly quickly. Didn't work the first time, so I reversed all the switches on the opener and did it again, and that did the trick. But I then found the range to be very short - less than 10 feet - no good! But what I also found was that I was expecting to press the button 16 times for a Stanley opener, yet 14 did the trick (i.e. the door was activated on the 14th press.) 14 is for a multicode (I take that to mean generic.) So I programmed it again, but this time did the full 16 presses, and now my range is very good - along the lines of 100 feet. Also, if you're curious (I was) - how does it control 2 doors with only 1 set of DIP switches? It remembers the settings during activation. So you set it to match one door, do the programming step, then set it to match the switches on your second door and do the programming step for it. Great unit and highly recommend! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 22, 2010

    Wow! Am I happy!

My Genie opener was installed in 1990, and I had dropped the remote for what turned out to be the last time. I had searched and found out that model remote was no longer made. I took a chance and ordered the Clicker. When the Clicker arrived, I found the reference to my unit. I knew about the DIP switches inside my existing remote, and the Clicker instructions told me to program the DIP switches inside the Clicker just the same. (This is only true for specific models of openers, remotes and year installed - others use the programming button on the receiver). I followed the clear directions: they seemed a bit odd, but I followed them exactly (17 clicks) and voila! ~ the garage door opened! I programmed the other door as well, and now I have one compact remote to open both doors. I cannot believe it took me so long to find the solution, and it took less than five minutes to program the two doors. Wow! Am I happy! The instructions are clear and detailed, and you just need to... 5/5 KBSt "KBSt" (San Francisco, CA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control (Tools & Home Improvement) My Genie opener was installed in 1990, and I had dropped the remote for what turned out to be the last time. 0 5/5 Steve (Honolulu, HI) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Liftmaster 377LM 315MHz Garage Door Keypad We used to have the key switch on the side of our garage. We recently had an alarm system installed and one of the first things the installer did was tell us to remove it. When I asked why he showed me how easy it was to just pry the switch off of the garage and short the two wires together to open the door. I'd never thought about it. He recommended we install the wireless unit here. Amazon had a good price so I ordered it. Had it installed in about two minutes. "Training" it to our garage door opener was so easy I thought I'd missed something until it worked. The security issue is enough to make this worthwhile but boy is it convenient now when we want to open the garage and don't have keys because they're in the house. Well worth the money in my book. Works with Craftsman 1/2 HP opener

I have a Craftsman 1/2 HP opener with a manufactured date of 8/2000, and the orange smart learning button. The instructions for this Liftmaster keypad suggest that my opener is type 4 with an opener ID of 2 for programming purposes. When done this way, either the keypad will work with the opener, OR my original remotes will work with the opener, but not both. Clearly that would be unacceptable, so I tried different numbers for the opener ID, and everything worked perfectly after programming the keypad using an opener ID of 4. Perhaps it is a mistake in the instructions, or perhaps there was a running change in my opener model, who knows. The point is, if it doesn't work when programmed with the opener ID specified in the instructions, try the other ID numbers before giving up.Other than the programming issue, it works fine. I have a newer door with full steel facing front and back, about 1.5" thick overall (IIRC the R value is something like 12.6). 0 5/5 golden_ "golden_" (Colorado) - See all my reviews This review is from: Liftmaster Clicker Universal Wireless Keyless Entry Keypad 387LM (Electronics) This device makes a great gift. For about a year now, it has worked flawlessly with our 1994 model Sears Craftsman garage door opener. The directions were good and programming was easy. I was initially concerned about two things: the lettering wearing off the keys we use, and dropping keystrokes which would cause us to have to reenter the code. Neither has been a problem. Although we use it daily, the lettering on the keys has not shown any wear yet. The keypad is good and every keystroke is reliable. I like the backlight feature - easier to see in the dark. The backlight comes on with your first keystroke and turns off automatically. The one slight complaint I have is that the lid doesn't like to stay up by itself, after several months of use. This requires slightly more coordination for one-handed operation. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 11, 2010

My problem is that I ordered three at one time and was charged the full shipping and handling charges for each one individually. They were shipped together in one box as one would expect. So the actual price including the shipping and handling was much higher than what I expected. I feel I was ripped off, although somewhat subtly. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 2, 2012

0 1/5 Tamshen - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Liftmaster 371LM 315MHz Garage Door Remote(See Tech. Details Below) I emailed and asked to confirm proper garage door openner. I purchase two that ended up being the wrong ones, they said that the color of the button on the unit mattered. I thought the serial # and other numbers would get me the correct unit only to find they want me to order again and pay in advance then refund my new remotes if they get them back in original condition with a 25% restocking fee. I would not use this company again until they make this right. I don't recommend them, find a company that offers a better return policy and faster response.Good luck.I went to HOME DEPOT and gladly spent $35 without the hassle and it worked fine. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 8, 2012

0 5/5 Da Da Gary (Hewitt, TX United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Liftmaster 971LM 390Mhz Garage Door Remote (Misc.) To verify this remote works with your unit, press the learn button on your overhead unit (remove the plastic light cover on the back side and look for a square button - mine is red). When you press the button the led light will light up. If yours is yellow, then this remote will work for you. I would suggest you immediately unplug and re-plug in your garage door opener to cancel the "learn" mode so that on the off chance that a neighbor is opening their garage door your door opener won't "learn" their code and start opening when they push their remote... but anyway...Setup is as simple as that, press the learn button, then press the remote button. The unit will click and flash to let you know it is learned. Now the remote will work. The remote also comes with battery and clip to mount to your car visor. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 17, 2010

0 4/5 bigguy - See all my reviews This review is from: Liftmaster 971LM 390MHz Security Plus 1 Button Sears Craftsman Compatible Suggests it will work for any opener with a red learn button, even Craftsman -- not the case. My Craftsman opener made in 2000 has a red learn button, but that does NOT made it a Security+ unit for which a 97xLM series will work. For purposes of a new remote, one must treat it like a Chamberlain or Genie unit vintage '93-'96 that has a GREEN learn button. Thus, buy either an 81LM series remote or a universal like the 375LM. If you buy the 375LM, program per instructions but with 4 button presses, not 2; also, must press and immediately release (not hold) the button following each of the 4 presses (375LM instructions are also vague on this point). 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 22, 2011

worked perfectly with a Chamberlain 2280

Have a Chamberlain LiftMaster Professional model 2280 with "Security+" (just marketing talk for the rolling changing code that all openers have had for 10+ yrs), and an orange learn button (we'll come back to this) on the back of the unit under the rear translucent light bulb cover. The opener manual specifies a 976LM keypad for this unit. This keypad has a 9v battery, lights up, allows an additional temporary code to be set by # of openings or # of hours, and is grayish-cream in color. Two screws to mount the unit, with one mounting hole on the top outside of the keypad and the other behind the battery cover at bottom. Contrary to comments elsewhere: 1) you do not have to hold the buttons down longer to get them to "take" ... I just punch 'em in like any other keypad I've had over the years; 2) it does not take time to reset if you mistype ... it just takes the last 4 digits you entered before pressing Send and reacts immediately if you enter a new set. 0 5/5 Snowdog (Andover, NJ United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Liftmaster 976LM/977LM 390Mhz Wireless Keyless Entry Pad I bought this as an exact replacement for the original remote. Installation is as simple as putting in 2 screws. Programming it takes about 30 seconds. 2 minor complaints I have 1. is that you have to enter the code to get it to close as well as open. 2. It would be nice to be able to assign a temporary code to give a service person or neighbor access while you are on vacation - not a big deal especially considering the great price. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 27, 2006
