    Easy, Affordable, and Quiet

I installed two of these chain driven Chamberlains for two doors. My wife was not available to help me with the install (she is not easy, affordable or quiet [just kidding, dear]). However, I was able to do them both myself with the help of a 6 ft ladder, a Makita cordless, a socket set, and a screwdriver. It took me about 38 minutes to assemble the first one and 20 minutes for the second one. After that, each unit required about an hour to attach brackets and mount. A fairly easy job that required some skill. I needed to purchase the screws/bolts required to mount the unit to the support (they give most but not all screws/bolts as every garage is different). My garage required installing brackets to the supports as well.I like my wires neat, so I purchased an Arrow electric staple gun - a good move (the one I bought can handle rounded and squared staples along with one size of nail). Installing the sensors is required, and putting up all of the keypads... 5/5 Mithras (Cleveland, OH) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This product was easy to install it only took about 1/2 hour to install. The extra security features are wonderful and ease my father's mind. Having the convenience of not getting out of the car has been wonderful. The product shipped in 2 days and we got it on the 3rd day. It opens smooth with almost no noise! Thank you for this product. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 2, 2003

Easy Installation. Good Choice for a Basic Garage Door Opener

We installed this garage door opener on a single door garage. It was a new installation, so we had to install a mounting bracket using our own components and run electricity to the unit and wall switch. We have installed multiple garage door openers (replacement & new installations) & found this unit easy to manage & easy to install.Installation: FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. There are pictures throughout that give you specific locations for assembly. 60% of the assembly clips together without hardware. The sensors clip on to the rail track (or there are flanges for optional attachment) & the only thing you need to be aware of is that the sensors need to "see" each other - there is plenty of adjustment. All of this is explained in the instructions.Wiring: the opener comes with little staples, but these staples aren't very user friendly for attachment to sheetrock (they are short & small & you'll end up hitting your hand because there is no room to hold on to... 5/5 Carrie (Midwest) - See all my reviews, October 30, 2010

    A Temporary Lift

0 1/5 Stunifoo - See all my reviews This review is from: Chamberlain CLK1 Clicker Universal Garage Door Opener with Keyless Entry (Tools & Home Improvement) This opener works fine for a short time, but when it goes there is no middle ground. The built in (annoying) feature that freezes the keypad for 30 seconds if you hit the wrong number is the same feature that makes it impossible to recover when a number starts to go bad. If it doesn't work, you can't try again for 30 seconds and, after the 3rd try, it won't work again until you open the door from the inside. Mine worked correctly for less than a year. It is poorly made and poorly thought out. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 3, 2004

Lousy instructions make installation a pain

Nowhere in the instructions are you advised to perform a very necessary step -- start by deprograming the Liftmaster garage opener AS WELL as deprogram the Clicker. As a computer literate operator I eventually tumbled to this solution after several futile installation attempts.Of course, now you have to take your car visor remotes and reprogram them as well to the new Liftmaster code, but this is straightforward. Would it really have hurt the feelings of the instruction authors to have included these simple steps? The cover that slides up to expose the buttons has no finger grips; you have to press hard against the cover and rely on friction. My Clicker is under a significant overhang, so I just leave the cover up. There are much more elegant designs. The Clicker, however, works well. I note there are some durability questions, and only time will tell whether I encounter them. Battery issues that leave people unable to enter are probably the... 2/5 Chris Mccleary "McClearyFL" (Chicago) - See all my reviews, March 6, 2005
