Tip for those who complain of short range

0 5/5 EPS (West Columbia, SC) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control (Tools & Home Improvement) I got mine set up fairly quickly. Didn't work the first time, so I reversed all the switches on the opener and did it again, and that did the trick. But I then found the range to be very short - less than 10 feet - no good! But what I also found was that I was expecting to press the button 16 times for a Stanley opener, yet 14 did the trick (i.e. the door was activated on the 14th press.) 14 is for a multicode (I take that to mean generic.) So I programmed it again, but this time did the full 16 presses, and now my range is very good - along the lines of 100 feet. Also, if you're curious (I was) - how does it control 2 doors with only 1 set of DIP switches? It remembers the settings during activation. So you set it to match one door, do the programming step, then set it to match the switches on your second door and do the programming step for it. Great unit and highly recommend! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 22, 2010

    Wow! Am I happy!

My Genie opener was installed in 1990, and I had dropped the remote for what turned out to be the last time. I had searched and found out that model remote was no longer made. I took a chance and ordered the Clicker. When the Clicker arrived, I found the reference to my unit. I knew about the DIP switches inside my existing remote, and the Clicker instructions told me to program the DIP switches inside the Clicker just the same. (This is only true for specific models of openers, remotes and year installed - others use the programming button on the receiver). I followed the clear directions: they seemed a bit odd, but I followed them exactly (17 clicks) and voila! ~ the garage door opened! I programmed the other door as well, and now I have one compact remote to open both doors. I cannot believe it took me so long to find the solution, and it took less than five minutes to program the two doors. Wow! Am I happy! The instructions are clear and detailed, and you just need to... 5/5 KBSt "KBSt" (San Francisco, CA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control (Tools & Home Improvement) My Genie opener was installed in 1990, and I had dropped the remote for what turned out to be the last time. best thing since sliced bread (well, almost;))!!!

I was very disappointed to discover that my brand-new 2011 model year vehicle did not come with any kind of garage door opener/homelink option. In looking for a garage door remote, I had purchased another Chamberlain remote that worked well but I didn't like the idea of keeping a remote "loose" in my car (too easy for thieves to break in steal it while getting my address from my insurance and/or registration cards). I liked the idea of a keychain remote but it seemed like none of them were capable of controlling more than one kind of a garage door at a time. I called Chamberlain to ask them if they had any keychain remotes that could control more than one type of garage door and they recommended the 956EV. Boy, am I glad they did - this thing is great!!!!It's a tiny remote (almost identical in size to my key fob but lighter) and it can control 3 different doors. Easy Setup, Good Range, Works Great

We normally use our garage door as our main entrance, and we were looking for a smaller alternative to our remotes. This 956EV remote is not as small as I thought it would be but is close enough to fit in your pocket. It has three different buttons that you can set them for three different doors, like office and residential, or you can just set all keys for the same door. If you have been in the market for one of these remotes, you already know that there are compatibility issues regarding which frequencies to choose. Fortunately, this particular 956EV model is new and universal. It means it should operate on both 315 MHz and 390 MHz units, and you have one less thing to worry about. The whole setup is easy, and it takes only 10 minutes or less. Works well

I have had it about 3 months. I tried programming it without reading and thought it didn't work until I read the instructions. Ha ha. There's a little button you must push with a paper clip, well, read and really follow the instructions. I bought it for a new Chamberlain opener, used to have a Craftsman, and on reflection the extra steps in programming are worth it so it doesn't accidentally lose the setting. Twice my Craftsman banging around in my pocket or purse caused the remote to lose its code. This one never will. I wish these folks would make a one-button remote as tiny as possible--all we want is small and 1 opener. Who the heck has 3 garages and why do their needs matter more than mine. Even families with double doors stick the same car in the same bay all the time. But this is as small as it gets, it has great range--I can open the door from the mailbox and I couldn't with my other remote. I docked it a star because I'm reserving 5 stars for the 1-button remote... 4/5 Toolmaker (Boston MA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) My problem is that I ordered three at one time and was charged the full shipping and handling charges for each one individually. They were shipped together in one box as one would expect. So the actual price including the shipping and handling was much higher than what I expected. 0 1/5 Tamshen - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Liftmaster 371LM 315MHz Garage Door Remote(See Tech. Details Below) I emailed and asked to confirm proper garage door openner. I purchase two that ended up being the wrong ones, they said that the color of the button on the unit mattered. I thought the serial # and other numbers would get me the correct unit only to find they want me to order again and pay in advance then refund my new remotes if they get them back in original condition with a 25% restocking fee. I would not use this company again until they make this right. I don't recommend them, find a company that offers a better return policy and faster response.Good luck.I went to HOME DEPOT and gladly spent $35 without the hassle and it worked fine. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 8, 2012

This review is from: Chamberlain 940EV Garage Keyless Entry (Tools & Home Improvement) Chamberlain 940EV Garage Keyless Entry Remote was great. USE the short instructions on the unit itself, NOT the enclosed instructions. Doing the LEARN procedures on the provided sheet did not work properly, causing my car/handheld remotes to lose their connection. It was easy to reprogram, but would not have been necessary if the Garage Keyless Entry remote instructions were correct, namely you may need to press the ENTER key several times until the light blinks on the motor unit, then press "0" (zero) to complete programming. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 9, 2013

Worked great, but double check your settings for older openers!

0 5/5 Anonymous - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Chamberlain 940EV Garage Keyless Entry (Tools & Home Improvement) Works exactly as expected (had these at our previous house). I had read in a review of a similar product that the "Enter" button would open or close the garage door with or without the code being entered. After I installed, I double checked for this problem, and even after the 15-second wait time for the lights to stop flashing on the keypad, the "Enter" key opened or closed the door. I waited five minutes and checked with the same result. My opener is from 2005, so I turned off the one-button closing option (hold 1 and 9 keys for 10 seconds until it flashes 4 times), and this fixed the problem. Be sure to check this if you have an older opener. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 23, 2012

Works with Craftsman 1/2 HP opener

I have a Craftsman 1/2 HP opener with a manufactured date of 8/2000, and the orange smart learning button. The instructions for this Liftmaster keypad suggest that my opener is type 4 with an opener ID of 2 for programming purposes. When done this way, either the keypad will work with the opener, OR my original remotes will work with the opener, but not both. Clearly that would be unacceptable, so I tried different numbers for the opener ID, and everything worked perfectly after programming the keypad using an opener ID of 4. Perhaps it is a mistake in the instructions, or perhaps there was a running change in my opener model, who knows. The point is, if it doesn't work when programmed with the opener ID specified in the instructions, try the other ID numbers before giving up.Other than the programming issue, it works fine. I have a newer door with full steel facing front and back, about 1.5" thick overall (IIRC the R value is something like 12.6). The point is, if it doesn't work when programmed with the opener ID specified in the instructions, try the other ID numbers before giving up.Other than the programming issue, it works fine. Works well with Sears Craftsman opener

0 5/5 golden_ "golden_" (Colorado) - See all my reviews This review is from: Liftmaster Clicker Universal Wireless Keyless Entry Keypad 387LM (Electronics) This device makes a great gift. For about a year now, it has worked flawlessly with our 1994 model Sears Craftsman garage door opener. The directions were good and programming was easy. I was initially concerned about two things: the lettering wearing off the keys we use, and dropping keystrokes which would cause us to have to reenter the code. Neither has been a problem. Although we use it daily, the lettering on the keys has not shown any wear yet. The keypad is good and every keystroke is reliable. I like the backlight feature - easier to see in the dark. The backlight comes on with your first keystroke and turns off automatically. The one slight complaint I have is that the lid doesn't like to stay up by itself, after several months of use. This requires slightly more coordination for one-handed operation. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 11, 2010
