Tip for those who complain of short range

0 5/5 EPS (West Columbia, SC) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control (Tools & Home Improvement) I got mine set up fairly quickly. Didn't work the first time, so I reversed all the switches on the opener and did it again, and that did the trick. But I then found the range to be very short - less than 10 feet - no good! But what I also found was that I was expecting to press the button 16 times for a Stanley opener, yet 14 did the trick (i.e. the door was activated on the 14th press.) 14 is for a multicode (I take that to mean generic.) So I programmed it again, but this time did the full 16 presses, and now my range is very good - along the lines of 100 feet. Also, if you're curious (I was) - how does it control 2 doors with only 1 set of DIP switches? It remembers the settings during activation. So you set it to match one door, do the programming step, then set it to match the switches on your second door and do the programming step for it. Great unit and highly recommend! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 22, 2010

    Wow! Am I happy!

My Genie opener was installed in 1990, and I had dropped the remote for what turned out to be the last time. I had searched and found out that model remote was no longer made. I took a chance and ordered the Clicker. When the Clicker arrived, I found the reference to my unit. I knew about the DIP switches inside my existing remote, and the Clicker instructions told me to program the DIP switches inside the Clicker just the same. (This is only true for specific models of openers, remotes and year installed - others use the programming button on the receiver). I followed the clear directions: they seemed a bit odd, but I followed them exactly (17 clicks) and voila! ~ the garage door opened! I programmed the other door as well, and now I have one compact remote to open both doors. I cannot believe it took me so long to find the solution, and it took less than five minutes to program the two doors. Wow! Am I happy! The instructions are clear and detailed, and you just need to... 5/5 KBSt "KBSt" (San Francisco, CA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control (Tools & Home Improvement) My Genie opener was installed in 1990, and I had dropped the remote for what turned out to be the last time. My problem is that I ordered three at one time and was charged the full shipping and handling charges for each one individually. They were shipped together in one box as one would expect. So the actual price including the shipping and handling was much higher than what I expected. I feel I was ripped off, although somewhat subtly. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 2, 2012

    Works as it should

0 5/5 amru - See all my reviews Bought this for the car parked outside. Programming was piece of cake, just read the directions in the pamphlet or on the garage opening motor [which I did].3 steps1. Press and HOLD the open button on the remote2. Press and RELEASE the purple button [I forgot what they called it]3. Release the remote button ONCE the garage openers' LIGHT comes on.Make sure you reprogram the old remotes at the same time so they all work on the same code, frequency, or what-not.Excellent seller as well, brought it from "ASPDOORS & A WHOLE LOT MORE"Hope this helped.pce! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 24, 2008

Small size, though works well with good range

The remote is 2.5" (L) x 1.5" (W) x 3/8" (T) [edited thanks to comments for correction]. The range is about 40' line of sight. Our predicament was finding one, pocket-size, remote that could operate 2 different garage door openers. Carrying 2 of the standard sized, inbox, remotes was too bulky for our needs. We have two different Liftmaster garage door openers. One was a new Craftsman+ and the other an older (6 years old) Craftsman Formula 1 garage door opener. These openers both have rolling codes, though work on different frequencies (one with a purple learning button and the other with a blue one), so each of their standard remotes, and seemingly a number of after-market, ones won't learn both simultaneously. After unsuccessfully trying a few remotes from local hardware stores, we risked this one. It was pricier than others, though had the appeal that this one actually works, Indeed, it works great.Hope this helps, Mike... 5/5 M. Burrows (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews, November 6, 2012

    Pocket Garage Opener LiftMaster 890MAX

I was looking for the a second garage door opener to use in another car or bicycle.890MAX is really the smallest one I could find for my LiftMaster. It is 63x38x13mm or if you don't knowwhat mm is it's 2.5 by 1.5 inches and half an inch thick. It weights 19 grams (5/8OZ)which light for the size or big for the weight and OK for a key-chain but adds some bulk to it. Remote is slightly larger and a bit heavier then my car remote. You might want to consider quick release system to your keychainThe remote is easy to program one hint is if you want to hit the purple programming button and the car is right below it instead of moving your car out and putting a leader or a chair you might be able to open a car door closest to the garage unit and reach the programming button standing in the car doorway. The remote is easy to operate and I like the red LED light. The plastic of the remote feels a bit cheap and buttons are easy to press.Another hint if you... 5/5 Igo - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) 0 5/5 Da Da Gary (Hewitt, TX United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Liftmaster 971LM 390Mhz Garage Door Remote (Misc.) To verify this remote works with your unit, press the learn button on your overhead unit (remove the plastic light cover on the back side and look for a square button - mine is red). When you press the button the led light will light up. If yours is yellow, then this remote will work for you. I would suggest you immediately unplug and re-plug in your garage door opener to cancel the "learn" mode so that on the off chance that a neighbor is opening their garage door your door opener won't "learn" their code and start opening when they push their remote... but anyway...Setup is as simple as that, press the learn button, then press the remote button. The unit will click and flash to let you know it is learned. Now the remote will work. The remote also comes with battery and clip to mount to your car visor. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 17, 2010

2 YEAR UPDATE JAN 2013The 377LM retains my 5 star rating. This unit has survived daily use by two adults and three small children at my son's house. That's quite an accomplishment considering the builder-supplied indoor control was demolished in a year.ORIGINAL REVIEW DEC 2010While this is a preliminary review based primarily on installation and initial operation of the 377LM, I have several months experience with the similar 376LM as well. This new unit was for my son's house.Installation of the 377LM took about 15 minutes, some of of which was spent carrying and setting up a ladder to reach the Learn button on the motor-mounted receiver. The unit came with a 9V battery installed. Setup went flawlessly following the simple well-written instructions.1. I pushed the purple Learn button on the receiver (behind the lamp cover on my unit).2. 0 5/5 Steve (Honolulu, HI) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Liftmaster 377LM 315MHz Garage Door Keypad We used to have the key switch on the side of our garage. We recently had an alarm system installed and one of the first things the installer did was tell us to remove it. When I asked why he showed me how easy it was to just pry the switch off of the garage and short the two wires together to open the door. I'd never thought about it. He recommended we install the wireless unit here. Amazon had a good price so I ordered it. Had it installed in about two minutes. "Training" it to our garage door opener was so easy I thought I'd missed something until it worked. The security issue is enough to make this worthwhile but boy is it convenient now when we want to open the garage and don't have keys because they're in the house. Well worth the money in my book. Works with Craftsman 1/2 HP opener

I have a Craftsman 1/2 HP opener with a manufactured date of 8/2000, and the orange smart learning button. The instructions for this Liftmaster keypad suggest that my opener is type 4 with an opener ID of 2 for programming purposes. When done this way, either the keypad will work with the opener, OR my original remotes will work with the opener, but not both. Clearly that would be unacceptable, so I tried different numbers for the opener ID, and everything worked perfectly after programming the keypad using an opener ID of 4. Perhaps it is a mistake in the instructions, or perhaps there was a running change in my opener model, who knows. The point is, if it doesn't work when programmed with the opener ID specified in the instructions, try the other ID numbers before giving up.Other than the programming issue, it works fine. I have a newer door with full steel facing front and back, about 1.5" thick overall (IIRC the R value is something like 12.6). 0 5/5 golden_ "golden_" (Colorado) - See all my reviews This review is from: Liftmaster Clicker Universal Wireless Keyless Entry Keypad 387LM (Electronics) This device makes a great gift. For about a year now, it has worked flawlessly with our 1994 model Sears Craftsman garage door opener. The directions were good and programming was easy. I was initially concerned about two things: the lettering wearing off the keys we use, and dropping keystrokes which would cause us to have to reenter the code. Neither has been a problem. Although we use it daily, the lettering on the keys has not shown any wear yet. The keypad is good and every keystroke is reliable. I like the backlight feature - easier to see in the dark. The backlight comes on with your first keystroke and turns off automatically. The one slight complaint I have is that the lid doesn't like to stay up by itself, after several months of use. This requires slightly more coordination for one-handed operation. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 11, 2010
