Tip for those who complain of short range

0 5/5 EPS (West Columbia, SC) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control (Tools & Home Improvement) I got mine set up fairly quickly. Didn't work the first time, so I reversed all the switches on the opener and did it again, and that did the trick. But I then found the range to be very short - less than 10 feet - no good! But what I also found was that I was expecting to press the button 16 times for a Stanley opener, yet 14 did the trick (i.e. the door was activated on the 14th press.) 14 is for a multicode (I take that to mean generic.) So I programmed it again, but this time did the full 16 presses, and now my range is very good - along the lines of 100 feet. Also, if you're curious (I was) - how does it control 2 doors with only 1 set of DIP switches? It remembers the settings during activation. So you set it to match one door, do the programming step, then set it to match the switches on your second door and do the programming step for it. Great unit and highly recommend! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 22, 2010

    Wow! Am I happy!

My Genie opener was installed in 1990, and I had dropped the remote for what turned out to be the last time. I had searched and found out that model remote was no longer made. I took a chance and ordered the Clicker. When the Clicker arrived, I found the reference to my unit. I knew about the DIP switches inside my existing remote, and the Clicker instructions told me to program the DIP switches inside the Clicker just the same. (This is only true for specific models of openers, remotes and year installed - others use the programming button on the receiver). I followed the clear directions: they seemed a bit odd, but I followed them exactly (17 clicks) and voila! ~ the garage door opened! I programmed the other door as well, and now I have one compact remote to open both doors. I cannot believe it took me so long to find the solution, and it took less than five minutes to program the two doors. Wow! Am I happy! The instructions are clear and detailed, and you just need to... 5/5 KBSt "KBSt" (San Francisco, CA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK1U Clicker Transmitter Universal Garage Door Remote Control (Tools & Home Improvement) My Genie opener was installed in 1990, and I had dropped the remote for what turned out to be the last time. Had both garage doors working in a couple mins. (one is from 2006 with a purple button, the other from 1999 with a red button) No issues setting up the remote. Easy Installation

0 5/5 Dana R. (New York) - See all my reviews This review is from: Chamberlain KLIK2U Clicker Keypad (Tools & Home Improvement) The best feature of the Chamberlain keypad is that it requires no additional wiring for installation. Once you program the keypad to your garage door opener, it's ready to attach (2 screws). It took me a couple tries to complete the programming, due to the fact I was not fully depressing the numbers on the keypad when programming the code. I would highly recommend. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 1, 2008

best thing since sliced bread (well, almost;))!!!

I was very disappointed to discover that my brand-new 2011 model year vehicle did not come with any kind of garage door opener/homelink option. In looking for a garage door remote, I had purchased another Chamberlain remote that worked well but I didn't like the idea of keeping a remote "loose" in my car (too easy for thieves to break in steal it while getting my address from my insurance and/or registration cards). I liked the idea of a keychain remote but it seemed like none of them were capable of controlling more than one kind of a garage door at a time. I called Chamberlain to ask them if they had any keychain remotes that could control more than one type of garage door and they recommended the 956EV. Boy, am I glad they did - this thing is great!!!!It's a tiny remote (almost identical in size to my key fob but lighter) and it can control 3 different doors. Easy Setup, Good Range, Works Great

We normally use our garage door as our main entrance, and we were looking for a smaller alternative to our remotes. This 956EV remote is not as small as I thought it would be but is close enough to fit in your pocket. It has three different buttons that you can set them for three different doors, like office and residential, or you can just set all keys for the same door. If you have been in the market for one of these remotes, you already know that there are compatibility issues regarding which frequencies to choose. Fortunately, this particular 956EV model is new and universal. It means it should operate on both 315 MHz and 390 MHz units, and you have one less thing to worry about. The whole setup is easy, and it takes only 10 minutes or less. You just need to activate remote... 4/5 Simon (MN, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Works well

I have had it about 3 months. I tried programming it without reading and thought it didn't work until I read the instructions. Ha ha. There's a little button you must push with a paper clip, well, read and really follow the instructions. I bought it for a new Chamberlain opener, used to have a Craftsman, and on reflection the extra steps in programming are worth it so it doesn't accidentally lose the setting. Twice my Craftsman banging around in my pocket or purse caused the remote to lose its code. This one never will. I wish these folks would make a one-button remote as tiny as possible--all we want is small and 1 opener. Who the heck has 3 garages and why do their needs matter more than mine. Even families with double doors stick the same car in the same bay all the time. But this is as small as it gets, it has great range--I can open the door from the mailbox and I couldn't with my other remote. I docked it a star because I'm reserving 5 stars for the 1-button remote... 4/5 Toolmaker (Boston MA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) To verify this remote works with your unit, press the learn button on your overhead unit (remove the plastic light cover on the back side and look for a square button - mine is red). When you press the button the led light will light up. If yours is yellow, then this remote will work for you. I would suggest you immediately unplug and re-plug in your garage door opener to cancel the "learn" mode so that on the off chance that a neighbor is opening their garage door your door opener won't "learn" their code and start opening when they push their remote... but anyway...Setup is as simple as that, press the learn button, then press the remote button. The unit will click and flash to let you know it is learned. Now the remote will work. The remote also comes with battery and clip to mount to your car visor. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 17, 2010

Easy replacement - need to know the trick on the range.

0 4/5 Bill R. - See all my reviews This review is from: 955D Universal Remote Control Replacement Kit (Blue) (Tools & Home Improvement) I purchased a rental house that had a good opener but a non-functional receiver. This product was easy to install but it does need a 110 outlet. It uses "doorbell" wire of the type that may already be in place for the inside-the-garage push button. If you have an outlet in a convenient spot or can install one, you can replace the existing inside-the-garage opener button with this and not even need to run new wire to the opener. However a generous supply of "doorbell" wire is supplied with the unit.Initially upon installation I was disappointed with the range. (I had to have the car almost against the door to make it work.) However, I took 6 or 8 feet of the door bell wire that was provided and spliced it to the short antenna wire that comes out of the unit. I tacked this extension of the antenna out of sight with the fasteners provided for the wire. Now I can open or close the door from three houses away. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 17, 2011

range is mediocre and it is prone to interference

I deleted my 1-star review of this product after I got the interference issues worked out. When I first installed it, I could only get it to work if I held the transmitter right next to the receiver. I e-mailed chamberlain's tech support and after a few days got a stock message about interference. Basically it sounded like if your house had electricity, all bets were off and you were going to have trouble with electrical interference. I was skeptical because the only electrical appliance near the receiver was the garage door opener mechanism itself, but I moved it to another outlet just to check, and sure enough the range improved, and while not great, it is usable now. Strangely, its better from outside the garage than inside. From the inside of the garage I have to hold it out the window to get it to work, but at least I don't have to get out of the car.It was very easy to install and program. If it weren't so interference prone I would have given it a 5-star... 3/5 Johnny Buffalkill (Des Moines, IA) - See all my reviews This review is from: 955D Universal Remote Control Replacement Kit (Blue) (Tools & Home Improvement) I deleted my 1-star review of this product after I got the interference issues worked out. 0 4/5 SharkAttack "Sharkattack" (The Great USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 955D Universal Remote Control Replacement Kit (Blue) (Tools & Home Improvement) After 12 years our 433 Mhz Liftmaster openers stopped working - some new form of interference was stopping the openers from functioning properly - except inside the garage. After working through all the diagnostics we were looking at buying new openers or new boards. I bought this instead - 20 minutes of hook up and another 15 for programming the remotes - and bingo we can open the doors from the street. It works with Home Link (07 and 10 models). The cheap wire used to connect the unit to the opener cost them a star - the wire kept breaking after the required stripping - and I expect it may still happen again after installation.Unit functionality is better than the original openers. I ordered a second for the other garage door. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 22, 2012

0 5/5 Schlermie (Silicon Valley, CA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Liftmaster 877max Wireless Garage Door Opener Keyless Entry (Misc.) I didn't have any difficulty programming the unit like some others commented in their review. I pretty much just followed the directions, and it worked. My garage door opener has a green learn button...not sure if that's relevant. I also want to comment that a single unit will operate more than one garage door. My house has two garage doors, so I mounted the keypad between the two doors. After programming the keypad for the first door, you just need to repeat the programming instructions, and give it a different 4-digit code for the second door. Voilà! One keypad controls both doors. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 9, 2013

0 5/5 T.Cash "T.Cash" (Boca Raton, FL USA) - See all my reviews Assembly for this item consists of attaching the visor clip, if desired (two seconds). To sync it to your existing garage door opener system you push the purple button on the motor unit, push the button on the remote and hear two clicks (four seconds, more if you have to get something to stand on). That's it. The product "learns" the rolling codes automatically. After that, when you push the button on the remote, your garage door goes up or down until the battery runs out, which have lasted over six years for me now. I bought more because we added more cars to our family. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 11, 2008

Works great but pay attention during installation

Installed this yesterday. Turned out to be a bit of a hassle but everything worked out. I have a Genie Exellerator garage door opener. When going through the setup process, I chose "Genie" as the model on the MyQ app. Big mistake. It started locking up my opener and I couldn't get anything to work. Then I scrolled down the list and noticed there was an "Excellerator" selection on the list of models. Chose that one and everything started working beautifully. Moral of the story, make sure you choose the correct model in the MyQ app during setup. It could relieve a lot of headache during installation.A word of warning. When installing the MyQ, you are basically adding a remote control to your opener. What that means is that you may need to re-program ALL of your remotes when adding the MyQ. I have 3 other remotes so when I added the MyQ, I needed to have the system re-learn the others as well. The app is pretty simple to use. Great concept, poor implementation, documentation and support

I set a lot of store by Amazon product reviews so was shocked at how poor this product is. The physical installation took about 20 minutes out of the box but that was just the beginning. Connecting it to my WiFi network which uses WPA2 security proved impossible. I called product support - was on hold for 10 minutes then a very nice lady 'helped' me. She had no clue whatsoever about the product and kept putting me on hold so she could go do some 'research'. She finally came back and asked me to confirm what type of 'universal iPhone I had'. I suggested we were both wasting our time and ended the call.Out of curiosity I took the security off my network and sure enough the WiFi hub then connected quickly. Not wanting an open network, I should have stopped then but curiosity kept me going. The rest of the setup was relatively easy, although the designer of the Android app must have designed mazes in their spare time. Finally, pressing the icon on the app... 1/5 John T Lonsdale - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Tricky to setup, and I consider myself to be tech savvy

I purchased this device today and anticipated that I would be able to set it up without any problems. The physical installation of the parts went without an issue. The software side of the installation was much more difficult than I thought. The first step is to connect the MyQ WiFi hub to your router. This requires you to use your smart phone. You have to disconnect the phone from your router and connect it to the hub. Once this is complete you go through a few setup steps until the hub is connected to your internet router. I had trouble with the final step. Based upon how some LEDs on the MyQ hub blinked indicated it's connection status. A blinking green light seemed to indicate you have done everything correctly, but it was not connected to the internet yet. I repeated this step a number of times. Finally I determined that everything was working correctly, but just taking longer than the anticipated time that the setup app expected and hence the error message... 3/5 John Martin - See all my reviews This review is from: Chamberlain MYQ-G0201 MyQ-Garage Controls Your Garage Door Opener with Your Smartphone (Tools & Home Improvement) I purchased this device today and anticipated that I would be able to set it up without any problems.
